Make-Ahead Kabobs

I mentioned these in Camping with Toddlers: A Survival Guide and felt compelled to share them on a different post. They are wonderful for camping because you can prep a day or two in advance and the longer they marinate the better! Plus they’re mega easy and even pretty healthy! We’ve made them at home as well but since kabobs are so camping appropriate we eat them every single time we go… which is a lot.

You will need:

  • 2 1 gallon ziploc bags
  • 1-2 lbs cubed steak or chicken
  • sliced veggies of choice. We usually use zucchini, onion, mushroom and bell pepper
  • McCormick’s Grill Mates dry seasoning packet (usually require oil to marinate)
  • Italian dressing
  • skewers

I don’t want to over-complicate this. Literally all you do is cube your meat of choice and throw it in a gallon bag. Follow the directions on the back of the McCormick packet to marinate but it usually asks for a little bit of oil.

Then you slice your veggies and throw them in the other gallon bag with as much Italian dressing needed to coat the veggies.

I make these ahead of time and keep them in our camper fridge to marinate for at least 24 hours. When it’s time for dinner I spend about 10 minutes skewing and Craig tosses them on the grill. So easy and delicious!
